I don’t know how technology saavy you are … but I like to consider myself on the cutting edge of Real Estate Technology.
I tend to be an early adopter of anything Real Estate specific relating to technology making my life better, easier, and basically less structured as I can conduct business without being in the office. for 12 hours a day.
Like many of you, I have a smartphone. I’m on my 3rd version and probably my 12th phone. I started with the Palm Treo 650. It was a great phone and offered a lot of great features for the time. I eventually upgraded to the Palm 700 WX allowing me to run Windows based programs. Again a terrific step up from the 650. My most recent phone is the Blackberry Tour. By far the best phone I have ever had. The apps are terrific — e-mail is spectacular. My response time is so much better with this device that it saves me time and is worth every penny I spend on the data plan. I used to get home and jump on the computer for “20 Minutes” and take time away from the family to see what came in! Not anymore as I’m able to scan e-mails as they come in and address and issue or delagate it out to someone else with a few presses of the keyboard.
Our board a little over a year ago offered as a benefit to the members Instanet Forms. I being an early adopter and on the Associations Technology Committee started using it immediately. It’s a great time saver and is terrific for looking a lot more professional to your clients and keeping the copies legible and easily accessable.
I only had two cons with the product. One was that I had was that to upload the document you had to be logged in and it was a bit cumbersome. The other was that I had to be at the office to use it. Well that has all changed this past month. There is now a print driver that can be installed that will allow you to “print” your documents whereby the software will open up a window and you select the name you’d like to name it — assign it to a transaction and click o.k. The service uploads it without having to manually log into the service and que it for upload. IT’S AWESOME and a terrific TIME SAVER!
The other feature they added — again remember the fact that I don’t like to be in the office — is the mobile version. Now I’m able to email and or fax a document by logging into the site on my BB. Select the transaction then the document and forward it to the other agent or attorney and viola — it’s DONE!
